Background:
In a small town in Japan, two girls were born with the names Kaika and Kindall. They were beautiful twin girls, though despite their similarities they couldn't be more opposite. The one born of light, Kaika, was a quiet girl who rarely spoke and often used her head. However, her twin sister Kindall, a girl born with the ability to control shadows, was rather loud and often made rash decisions. Yet despite these differances, they loved each other and were always with each other to support one another through the hardships in their life that began the moment they breathed life's precious air.
Despite the gift the world had been given with their arrival, a sad unjust cost had to be paid. Their mother in a cruel twist of fate lost her life the very day they entered the living world, and because of that many hardships befell them.
Stricken with greif and hate, their rich father who worked as an aristocrat blamed them cruely for the death of the only woman he came to respect and love. Never holding much standing for those of the opposite gender, he held no sympathy when it came to trying to kill them. If it weren't for the midwife, the two twins would have died many years ago, in their early childhood.
In a strage mixed up way, destiny had taken and given them much on that horrible scrape with death. The midwife who had stopped the assult took them in as her own. In the years to come, they grew, and with that they learned many things from the wise woman figure who was like the mother they never got to know. From the art of midwife, to the anceint skill of healing, the two twins tried their hardest to be the best they could, if only to prove to their father their worth.
Yet it wasn't only the kind midwife who taught them many a things during their happy stay there. Her only son, Jose, who was a skilled samurai and a very kind man showed them the secret art, and with practice they became skilled with the katana and throwing knives.
All was peaceful, and the two twins proved to truly be a blessing for the small town in Japan as they helped out the locals with their newly developed talents.
Peace however, is only a fleeting illusion that easily breaks in the eyes of the greedy.
One day, when they had grown to the age of sixteen, the two girls left town for a few days to gather special flowers for their mother figure, whose birthday was coming up. Sadly, upon their return they found not only was their travel pointless, but disastrous. The place they had always treasured and loved lay infront of them, smouldering away as the fresh fires continued to eat away at their happiness.
The town was destroyed.
For a long moment they simply stared at the wreckage, the image not only burning into their eyes, but their hearts. The towns people were slaughtered mercilessly, and inwardly they both knew that if they were here, they could have made a differance using their powers. With sober expressions they each drew their swords, moving the blade infront of their faces in a formal vow to their fallen kin.
They would be avenged.
Wondering through the horrid wreckage, checking for survivors, they came across the peaceful body of their adopted mother, clutching in each hand a gold and silver mask.
And it was that day, the masked sisters were born.
Kaika, taking the gold, and Kindall, taking the silver, struck fear into their enemies hearts in their fight for vengence. Destiny was on their side, but fate was against them. In the middle of battle they were captured, and instead of being killed they were forced into slavery. A fate worse then death.
For years they were passed from one owner to another, each escape a failure. Their spirits refused to dampen, and because of this they were granted a second chance at life. Finally, one of their plans worked and they fleed their current owner in the dead of night. But their second chance was not without cost, for in order to make a complete escape they had to seperate from each other.
On that night, for the first time in their lives, the twins parted.
That was some years ago, now, they are both in search for each other. Darkness and light, yin and yang, both incomplete without the other.
